Saffron — Pure Kesar Threads | 1 g & 5 g
Saffron (kesar) is harvested by hand from the stigmas of the Crocus sativus flower — one of the most labour-intensive spices in the world. Deep red threads that bloom into a rich golden-yellow colour when steeped in warm liquid, with a distinctive floral, honey-like aroma and a subtle earthy, slightly bitter flavour. Just a small pinch is enough to transform a dish. Pure threads, no fillers or additives.
Culinary Uses:
- Biryani and pulao — for the signature golden colour, aroma, and saffron layer
- Kheer, halwa, and Indian milk-based sweets
- Kesar lassi and saffron milk (kesar doodh)
- Shrikhand, rabri, and kulfi
- Festive and wedding recipes — a traditional marker of celebration and occasion
- Saffron rice — Persian, Mughal, and Mediterranean preparations
- Paella and risotto Milanese
- Saffron-infused desserts and baked goods
How to Use: Steep a pinch of threads in 2–3 tablespoons of warm (not boiling) water or milk for 10–15 minutes before adding to your dish. This blooming step releases the full colour, aroma, and flavour. Adding threads directly to a dish without blooming gives a weaker result.
